Surmai Curry

Recipe: 

  • Heat oil, sauté onions till golden, add ginger-garlic paste.
  • Add tomato puree & spices, cook until oil separates.
  • Mix in the prepared masala paste & cook.
  • Pour coconut milk & tamarind paste (optional).
  • Add fish, cover & cook for 7-10 mins.
  • Sprinkle garam masala & garnish with coriander.

Ingredients:

  • 500g Surmai (Kingfish), cleaned and sliced
  • 2 tbsp Mustard oil
  • 1 Onion, finely chopped
  • 2 Tomatoes, pureed
  • 1 tbsp Ginger-Garlic paste
  • 2 Green chilies, slit
  • ½ tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp Red chili powder
  • 1 tsp Coriander powder
  • ½ tsp Cumin powder
  • ½ tsp Garam masala
  • ½ cup Coconut milk
  • 1 tsp Tamarind paste (optional)
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander, chopped (for garnish)
  • Water as needed
